MARION SOFTBALL KNOCKS OFF SCOTT CITY

Devon Davis homered and the Marion High School softball team defeated Scott City (Mo.), 7-1, Friday at the Crisp Sports Complex. Marion improved to 19-3 with the victory. The Lady Wildcats got on the board in the third when Jordan Turner singled and worked her way around. Then in the fifth, Morgan Dodd singled, stole second and scored on a wild pitch before Keira Hance doubled and touched home when Davis smashed one over the fence to make it 4-0. Morgan Andrews added an RBI single and Hance plated two runs with a double in the sixth, when Kelsi Cutsinger and Dodd both drew key walks. Scott City scored its lone run against Marion hurler Ivy Smart in the sixth and stranded the bases loaded in both the sixth and seventh innings. Marion was scheduled to play at Harrisburg on Monday as the beginning of a crazy busy week that also includes games against Belleville Althoff, Centralia and Pinckneyville.
